Music Review for '2 States' - a film by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar!

Music of 2 States – a film by producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar is finally out. The six energetic songs would surely be loved by the youth as the entire film is based on their generation love. Actors Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have done absolute justice to the film is something that we can make out from the trailer. Here is the music review for 2 States:

The first one is Offo sung by Aditi Singh Sharma and Amitabh Bhattacharya. The beats of this song are wonderful and one would like to shake a leg or two on it. Next is Locha-E-Ulfat, which has been sung by Benny Dayal. It is a cute number that shows Arjun gradually falling in love with Alia on the silver screen. These two songs are more youth centric and teenagers of today might really love them. Following this we have Mast Magan, a duet by Arijit Singh and Chinmayi Sripada. It is a soulful song and the music might touch your heart. Up next is Iski Uski sung by Akriti Kakar and Shahid Mallya. This is one of those slow songs, which you may like depending on the situation.  Then we have Chaandaniya, which has been sung by K. Mohan and Yashita Sharma. It is not so strong as far as music is concerned. However, certain parts in the song have been really done well. Lastly there is Hulla Re sung by Shankar and Siddharth Mahadevan and Rasika Shekhar. It has a Punjabi theme and includes typical Punjabi sounds such as the dhol drums, as well as cool Punjabi lyrics. It will definitely become the next favourite number for Punjabi weddings.

In all, the soundtrack to 2 States is an exciting one. The movie has fun numbers that you would not mind humming now and then. You can watch 2 States – co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar in your nearest theatres from 18^th April this year!

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor share a sizzling chemistry in Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar's 2 States!

Both are newbie actors of Bollywood who started their respective careers in the industry with a bang. Both hail from a family with a strong filmy background, yet did not let that be an advantage while entering the industry. Whatever they have achieved so far is all because of their own hard work and talent. We are talking about none other than the star kids Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor. Alia is 2 films old in Bollywood with hits like Student Of The Year and Highway, whereas Arjun is 3 films old with power-packed performances in movies like Ishaqzaade, Aurangzeb, and Gunday. They are now coming together for a film, which is a screen adaptation of the English novel 2 States written by Chetan Bhagat. Filmmakers Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar are co-producing the film under their respective banners. Debutant Abhishek Varman has directed this movie, wherein Alia and Arjun play the couple deeply in love.

The twist in the story of 2 States is that the male lead is a north Indian whereas the female lead is a south Indian. We being Indians very well know about this ancient rapport that the North Indians and South Indians share with each other. They cannot tolerate each other at all and are at constant argument over petty issues. Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar are happy that Abhishek Varman has maintained the authenticity of the story of the book while making the film. Coming back to Alia and Arjun as a couple in 2 States, they fall in love with each other when they meet at IIM Ahmedabad, where they study. Despite of coming from different cultures, the chemistry between the two is mind-blowing in the film. They have successfully managed to sizzle together onscreen, which can be clearly seen in the trailer. The two have also locked lips in the movie, which adds the necessary sensuousness to their reel relationship.

Arjun Kapoor feels privileged to be a part of Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar's '2 States'!

Upcoming actor Arjun Kapoor, who is just two films old, has already stolen hearts by his amazing performances in films like Ishaqzaade and Aurangzeb. This charming actor rules the hearts of numerous female fans. He is coming back again in a new role and this time he will not play it bad. Arjun will be seen playing a geek opposite actress Alia Bhatt in the Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar co-produced 2 States. Feeling privileged to be a part of this project he said, “It is genuinely a dream come true for me to be able to do a film like this. I was looking for something like this and to get this opportunity to play a character like this really excited me and it looks really nice. I am seeing it for the first time; genuinely I have had a blast on working on this film. I have made two really close friends Alia and Abhishek. I got to work with the two biggest banners in one go. So what more could I ask for as an upcoming actor. For me it will always hold a very special place in my heart. Just to be a part of this whole process I feel very happy about it.”

Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar will release 2 States on 18^th April. Adding to the conversation Arjun said, “It is a different sort of casting; it is an off casting in that sense. And I hope if you have liked the book than you will like to see the film also. I was really excited. It is different and that is what actors crave. They want to play different characters. My character in the film is a soft spoken boy, he is a geek, family oriented boy, listens to his mother and doesn’t understand this emotion of love that he experiences. So, all these facets I have not explored as an actor on the big screen, so it very fascinating and I am glad that I got this opportunity.”

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor lock lips for Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are going to be seen together for the first time in Sajid Nadiadwala’s 2 States. The movie is based on a novel by Chetan Bhagat. The story is about a couple that falls in love when they meet at the IIMA campus and how they face difficulties when they want to take their relationship to the next level. Because in India, marriage is not the union of two souls, it is the union of two families. If a boy and a girl want to get married, they have to like each other, they have to be liked by each other’s parents and their families also have to like each other. Once all these obstacles are cleared, if you still love each other, you can get your happily ever after.

Alia and Arjun, who play the characters of a South Indian Tamilian Brahmin girl and a North Indian Punjabi boy, will be seen doing some intimate scenes in this Sajid Nadiadwala movie. A source close to the film said, "There are two-three kissing scenes in the film. Both Arjun and Alia were completely comfortable while shooting for them. There was no intention to exploit the rumours of their relationship.”  The comfort level that the two actors share is because they have gotten along very well during the shooting of this film and have in fact become very good friends. They have been spotted together at many public events as well. Speaking about her relationship with the actor, Alia said, "He (Arjun) has a very special place in my life...we were shooting for Highway and 2 States around the same time. He became a good friend of mine. He is a funny person and has a good sense of humour.”

2 States is directed by Abhishek Varman and co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film also has Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathi as Alia Bhatt’s parents while Arjun’s parents are played by Amrita Singh and Ronit Roy. It is set to hit the theatres on the 18^th of April 2014.

Alia Bhatt plays the character based on Chetan Bhagat’s wife in Sajid Nadiadwala’s 2 States

2 States is a movie which is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel with the same name, which was published in the year 2009. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead. It is being directed by Abhishek Verman and co-produced by Dharma Productions and Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd. It is the love story of a Punjabi boy from North India and a Tamilian girl from South India. 

Alia Bhatt is playing the role of Ananya Swaminathan, a Tamil Brahmin girl from Chennai. Her role is very different than the clichéd South Indian characters that we are used to seeing in Bollywood movies, including the character of Deepika Padukone in Chennai Express. The producer of the film Sajid Nadiadwala explains, “Alia has played the first non-caricatural South Indian character in our films. Normally, when we show South Indians in our films they have thick accents, and if it’s a woman from the South she will have gajra in her hair and will go ‘Aiyo yo’ every five minutes. Alia does none of that.” Alia was specifically asked not to put on an accent for this film. Her character breaks through all the stereotypes about South Indian characters in Bollywood. “How do I explain this? Alia is Tamilian and she even talks in Tamil. But she behaves like a normal city wife,” says Sajid.

Alia Bhatt’s role in the film is based on writer Chetan Bhagat’s wife. The novel is inspired by his own marriage, but is a work of fiction. When asked if it was difficult for Alia to keep the pre conceived south Indian characteristics out of her character for this Sajid Nadiadwala film, she said, “I was not allowed to be culture-specific in 2 States in my body-language or my accent. Yes, I am a Tamilian in 2 States. But I don’t make a show of my regional roots. It is tough because when you are not resorting to speech and behavioral props you have no handy tools to give personality to your character.”
