The female lead of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway shares her experience of travelling across North India

Alia Bhatt, who plays Veera in the movie Highway, enjoyed her experience of working with Randeep Hooda and Imtiaz Ali. Her character in this film is particularly different from her style-diva-kind-of-role in her debut film ‘Student of the Year’. Veera is abducted by three men and she has to travel along with them on their journey across 6 different states of North India, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. One of these three men is Randeep Hooda, whose character in this film is called Mahaveer. This Sajid Nadiadwala film is going to release on February 21 2014.

Alia shared her most memorable moments while shooting in each of the six states with her fans, when she was in Koklata recently to promote the film. She remembers how difficult it was to shoot in Delhi as they had to shoot on the streets and it was difficult because of the crowd. She also revealed that the movie has actually been shot chronologically and hence they started with Delhi. The of the film Highway, which is being presented worldwide by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd., then moved to Haryana. Here they shot the scene in which Alia and Randeep come face to face for the first time. He drags her through an open field. The next destination was very special for Alia, as the crew celebrated her birthday in Rajasthan. Randeep gifted her a book on Acting, which was gifted to him by Naseeruddin Shah.

When the crew was shooting in Punjab, Alia says his biggest moment was when she climbed a tree all by herself. She says she had never done anything like that before and it is these little things that she feels has achieved during the shooting of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway. In Himachal, she met a group of women, that her father had met on an earlier trip and clicked some snaps with them. She also loved the snow covered mountains of Himachal Pradesh. When shooting in Kashmir, Alia shot a scene while holding a baby goat in her arms. That was for her the most memorable moment of the shoot.

A R Rahman pleases his international fans with the music of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway

The music of Highway has been composed by the Oscar wining music composer A R Rahman. There were a lot of surprises that Rahman had in mind for his fans when he composed the music of Highway and he is slowly unveiling them. With the first release of the album, of this Sajid Nadiadwala movie, Patakha Guddi the bar was set very high. The song is sung by the Nooran sisters Jyoti and Sultaan. Their voice mesmerized the fans and the song was an instant hit. The music is catchy and the vocals give the song a nice edge.

The second song that was released was a romantic number sung by the music genius A R Rahman. It is a sweet composition with soft music and truly appeals to lovers everywhere. Rahman’s voice adds magic to the song. This song is featured on the lead pair and shows how they come close during their journey which starts when Veera, played by Alia Bhatt, is kidnapped by 3 men, one of which happens to be Randeep Hooda. The story of this Sajid Nadiadwala production is about the journey of this couple and how they fall in love with each other.  The female lead of this film, Alia Bhatt has also given her vocals to one of the songs of this film, Sooha Saha. This was again Rahman’s idea. He wanted Alia to sing this song and convinced her to do so. Fans have shown immense love and appreciation for the song.

The next surprise that Rahman had for his fans, especially the international ones, is the English number that has been added to the song list of this album. It is called ‘Wanna Mash Up?’ and is sung by Suvi Suresh and Lady Kash and Krissy. The music of the film is very unconventional and does not fall in any particular genre. This Sajid Nadiadwala movie which is being presented worldwide under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd along with UTV Motion Pictures will hit the theatres on 21st of February 2014. The music of Highway is available for download online.

Such priceless moments and presents can become a good reason to stay delighted for your entire life. The well known Indian film maker Sajid Nadiadwala has many such reasons to be happy and content. One of them is the memento he had received from his childhood hero and famous Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone. Sylvester agreeing to work in Sajid’s film Kambakht Ishq, which had actors Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor playing the leads, was an achievement for the producer. Talking about what was the film about Sajid said, “The film was about a stuntman, who does stunt doubles for Hollywood actors. That's why we roped in Hollywood stars - the script demanded it.”

In Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq, Sylvester Stallone had to play himself alongside Akshay Kumar. Explaining about the rapport that the two actors shared off screen, the producer said, “They gelled very well. Stallone was very impressed with Indians and our way of working. Akshay and Stallone would discuss their workouts, gym routines and trainings.” Apart from Sylvester Stallone, Hollywood actress Denise Richards was also roped in for the film and getting the two on board was a difficult task as per Sajid. He said, “We were trying to get in touch with Hollywood actors through various sources. We tried many actors and finally, we could get Stallone and Richards.”
Finally the moment came, when Sajid Nadiadwala was gifted a pair of boxing gloves by Stallone, which he would cherish forever. He confirmed saying, “Yes that was a memento. I will always cherish that. He was so impressed with us that he gave his boxing gloves to me. Cinema in India is growing big time and people abroad have started recognizing us.
