Ranbir Kapoor Extends His Support For Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Highway'!

Produced by Window Seat Films and presented by Sajid Nadiadwala, ‘Highway’ has certainly managed to create a spellbinding effect on those who wish to see something beyond regular Rom-Coms or Masala films.  The movie not only offers fresh breezes and new sights like the foothills of the Himalayas, but taps on a very novel section of a simple, silent love story which had been previously unexplored in Bollywood and no wonder this paved the way for its selection in the Panorama section of the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival. Although it doesn’t offer the entertainment quotient for the mass audience, it hasn’t proved to be abortive in creating a mark in Indian Cinema with its mesmerizing music by A.R. Rahman and thought-provoking script by  Imtiaz Ali.

And that’s exactly the reason why the Rockstar of Bollywood couldn’t stop himself from promoting Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Highway’. Ranbir has always shared a special equation with Imtiaz Ali and as per reports, he had seen an early cut of this film and appreciated it hugely. In a special gesture by Ranbir, he landed up in Film City, Mumbai and moved around in the ‘Highway’ truck chatting with Imtiaz and Alia about the film for a news channel.

In the enigmatic world of Bollywood, rarely do you get to see actors promoting other films and even if they do so, it’s not without any personal benefit which can be in terms of monetary value or clandestine intentions. But the Kapoor lad apparently took time out of his busy work schedule to simply extend his support for Sajid Nadiadwala and his film ‘Highway’. A first of a kind friendly gesture indeed!

Kapoor Jr had played the role of a rebellious concert singer in Imtiaz’s blockbuster ‘Rockstar’and will soon be seen working opposite his ex-lover Deepika Padukone in his next film. But we would definitely love to see him pair up with the Patakha Guddi in the days to come!

Randeep Hooda opens up about Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Highway' and 'Kick'!

Due to the roles I play people think I'm too serious and cranky. (Doing such roles) is very hard on you as one has to go through those emotions. It affects your life as well as the people around you. Randeep Hooda wanted Naseeruddin Shah to watch Sajid Nadiadwala's Highway

Randeep Hooda is all smiles because of the complements he is receiving for his performance in his latest release Highway. Since its release on the 21st of February, the movie and its entire cast has been receiving appreciation from their colleagues as well as the critics. Randeep, however, feels that the appreciation he has received is incomplete if Naseeruddin Shah, who has been his friend since they worked together in the Motley theater group, does not watch it. He said, “For me, Highway is incomplete till Naseeruddin sir watches it. I am eagerly waiting for his review. I want him to see the film and sit down with me and discuss about it. He has been receiving a lot of calls from the many people praising my work. So he is very happy about it.” Highway, which is being presented worldwide by Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd and UTV Motion Pictures, has touched the hearts of many.

Randeep Hooda has also called Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway his great comeback and he is absolutely right in saying so. Everybody who has watched the movie has been praising Randeeps’s acting. He had organized a special screening of the film for Mr. Shah, but unfortunately the actor couldn’t make it. Randeep said “Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it for the screening. Nonetheless, he will soon watch the film.” The actor has shared screen space with Naseeruddin in an action thriller in 2013 called John Day and is a huge fan of him. Randeep wants him to watch the movie and discuss what he liked about it and what he could do better in terms of acting. In the movie, Randeep is playing a gang leader, who abducts a girl, played by Alia Bhatt, from a petrol pump on a highway. He then takes her along with him across different states of North India to stay away from the police glare, until his gang members try to get the ransom money.

This Sajid Nadiadwala movie is very special for the entire cast and crew, especially the director Imtiaz Ali. Films like Highway don’t come around often. It stays with you hours after you have left the theatre. You can feel the story resonating in your mind.

Imtiaz Ali on casting Randeep Hooda in the Sajid Nadiadwala presentation ‘Highway’!

Randeep Hooda might be a really great actor with his amazingly polished acting skills. However, one cannot refrain from the fact that he is also one of the most underrated actors in the industry. The man has not gained much fame in all these years of his career, though he can act so well. However, director Imtiaz Ali seems to have been able to see the gem in him and has roped him for his road venture Highway. Imtiaz has written, directed, as well as produced this movie, which producer Sajid Nadiadwala is presenting worldwide in association with UTV Motion Pictures. Actress Alia Bhatt will be seen playing the lead opposite Randeep Hooda. Other than playing the lead in Imtiaz’s Highway, Randeep will also be playing an important role in Sajid’s directorial debut Kick.

According to Imtiaz, he had watched Randeep in his debut movie Monsoon Wedding and that is when he decided to work with the actor some day. What impressed the director more was the background he comes from as he is from Haryana. Talking about casting Randeep Hooda in the Sajid Nadiadwala presentation Highway, Imtiaz Ali said, “I have not seen any of his films except ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and I have seen him in theatre. He is a very superior actor. I always wanted to work with him and finally the chance came with ‘Highway’. Also, he is from Haryana so he was kind of familiar with that part.” Just one film, which was also Randeep’s debut, made Imtiaz fall for him and cast him in his first as a producer. The movie has been shot across six breathtaking states of North India. While Randeep plays a gangster, Alia will be seen in the role of a city slicker, whom Randeep abducts in the film.
