Sajid Nadiadwala steps into the world of screen adaptations this year with ‘2 States’!

Screen adaptations are a new trend these days. Many film makers have been showing interest in working on turning the stories of famous books into films. Amongst all of them, one is ace producer of Bollywood Sajid Nadiadwala. He read author Chetan Bhagat’s book 2 States and fell in love with the real life love story of the writer. He liked it so much that he immediately bought the rights for the story and decided to make it into a movie. However, Sajid is not doing it alone; he is co-producing the film along with film maker and friend Karan Johar. They have roped in debutant Abhishek Varman to direct 2 States (the name remains the same), who had no plans to tamper the original story of the book. Sajid, Karan, as well as Chetan are very happy with this. Newcomers Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor have been signed to play the lead pair.

Romantic by genre, 2 States is a screen adaptation of the book written by Chetan Bhagat with the same name. With this, Sajid Nadiadwala is stepping into the world of screen adaptations this year for the first time. Chetan has written six books so far, out of which three have been converted into films. 2 States is the fourth book that has been adapted on the screen and is about two people from different castes, who fall in love and do everything to convince their parents for their marriage. Rightly put by a source, he said, “The romantic plot is expected to revolve around a couple’s lingual and cultural distinctions in spite of belonging to one nation.” In this movie, Arjun plays the role of Krishh Malhotra, a north Indian boy, who falls in love with Alia playing Ananya Swaminathan, a south Indian girl. The two meet at IIM, where they study together and fall in love with each other.

This Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar co-produced 2 States releases on 18th April this year!

Sajid Nadiadwala agrees with Imtiaz Ali calling ‘Highway’ a relationship movie on the roads!

The most talked about and awaited movie for the next year seems to be the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. presentation ‘Highway’. Famous Indian film producer Sajid Nadiadwala is presenting this film worldwide and distributing it along with UTV Motion Pictures. Written, directed, as well as produced by the talented director Imtiaz Ali, this movie will hit the theatres on 21st February, 2014. Too many expectations are building up from the film as it involves the brainstorming of two genuinely skilled people of the industry – Sajid and Imtiaz. None other than the versatile actor Randeep Hooda and bubbly newcomer Alia Bhatt are playing the lead roles.
According to the director they best suit the specific roles and not even an experienced actor would have been able to do it better than them. Talking about Randeep and Alia, Imtiaz says, “Choosing an actor does not depend on my ability to sign a big actor. That would be of no use. A suitable actor is required for every role. I felt that these actors suit my roles and that is why I chose them.” Sajid Nadiadwala is well convinced with the director on this. Highway is said to be a romance drama by the makers. Imtiaz Ali was overheard saying that his next movie Highway is a relationship film on discovery of roads. He put his opinion by saying, “Highway is a relationship film on the roads. It is about when you travel you discover more about the place you come from. Highway is a discovery like that.” Again Sajid has agreed with this as he feels the same.
Adding on to the essence of the film Highway, we have the popular musician A.R. Rahman, who has lent his wonderful music to the movie. This makes it even more worth waiting for and watching it as soon as it releases!

Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ showcases north India at its best!

Road films are hard to shoot, but it became so difficult for Imtiaz Ali that it almost became exhausting. The director along with film producer Sajid Nadiadwala is coming up with a new film Highway that showcases the toughest as well as most beautiful locations of north India. Shot across 6 north Indian states, Highway becomes a one of its kind movie. It has been written, directed, as well as produced by Imtiaz Ali. Actors Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt are playing the lead. They play two such characters, which are extremely different from each other. The communication gap between them is huge and the sudden change in their individual personalities due to the journey has been highlighted in the film.

Highway is being presented worldwide by film producer Sajid Nadiadwala and he is very happy to be a part of the movie. He is handling the entire distribution process by himself and soon one can expect them to start promoting the film. Coming back to the shooting and location of the film, one can easily make out from the Highway diaries that the sets looked very authentic and exclusive. A source close to the movie said, “The filmmaker & his cast & crew must have travelled a lot to capture the picturesque locales, breathtaking slides, snow-clad mountains, entrapping gorgeous scenic beauty, and other backdrop for the film. From rough terrain to bumpy roads to dangerous under-constructed ghats to local roads twisting away between steep drops and barren canyons, Highway appears to be the most exhausting film of Imtiaz.”
Though very beautiful along with being exhausting, the duo Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali are very much content with the outcome. The expectations of the audiences are rising and they might be already ready to watch the film. However, one can keep a track over the movie by watching the videos being released as a part of the Highways Diaries, which also do not have any relation to the movie!
