Randeep
Hooda might be a really great actor with his amazingly polished acting skills.
However, one cannot refrain from the fact that he is also one of the most underrated
actors in the industry. The man has not gained much fame in all these years of
his career, though he can act so well. However, director Imtiaz Ali seems to
have been able to see the gem in him and has roped him for his road venture
Highway. Imtiaz has written, directed, as well as produced this movie, which
producer Sajid Nadiadwala is
presenting worldwide in association with UTV Motion Pictures. Actress Alia
Bhatt will be seen playing the lead opposite Randeep Hooda. Other than playing
the lead in Imtiaz’s Highway, Randeep will also be playing an important role in
Sajid’s directorial debut Kick.
According
to Imtiaz, he had watched Randeep in his debut movie Monsoon Wedding and that
is when he decided to work with the actor some day. What impressed the director
more was the background he comes from as he is from Haryana. Talking about
casting Randeep Hooda in the Sajid
Nadiadwala presentation Highway, Imtiaz Ali said, “I have not seen any of
his films except ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and I have seen him in theatre. He is a very
superior actor. I always wanted to work with him and finally the chance came
with ‘Highway’. Also, he is from Haryana so he was kind of familiar with that
part.” Just one film, which was also Randeep’s debut, made Imtiaz fall for him
and cast him in his first as a producer. The movie has been shot across six
breathtaking states of North India. While Randeep plays a gangster, Alia will
be seen in the role of a city slicker, whom Randeep abducts in the film.
