Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway makes it to the Berlin Film Festival

Highway is a road film that is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It is written, directed and created by Imtiaz Ali and is scheduled to release on February 21 in theatres across the world. Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda are playing the lead pair in the film and the audience is eagerly waiting to see their performances and their chemistry on screen. Alia has gone one step ahead and even lent her voice to the song ‘Sooha Saha’. The music of the film is composed by A.R.Rehman and it was his suggestion that Alia should sing the song.

Even before the movie has released, it has been garnering appreciation from all over the country and the world. The proof of this is the recent news that this Sajid Nadiadwala production has been shortlisted for the Berlin Film Festival for the year 2013. It will be screened in the festival’s Panaroma section of the festival. This is a great honor for the entire cast and crew. The director of the film, Imtiaz Ali, was surprised when he received the news. "I felt that only efficient and creative filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap can go to film festivals and to these glamorous cities. This is the first time that a film of mine has been invited to a festival.” He said that he had not made the movie with the intention that it will be screened at any film festivals, but he is happy that it has. He also hopes that this will open doors for more filmmakers.

Imtiaz, who has directed films like Jab We Met, Socha Na Tha and Love Aaj Kal, always has strong female characters for his leading lady. He has penned down a similar character for Alia in Highway, which is being produced under Sajid Nadiawala’s banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The movie is the story of a girl who is kidnapped by a goon, how she finds freedom in this road trip and her dynamics with her kidnapper.
